I began my career in the fly fishing world at a young age. I first picked up a fly rod around age 10, started tying at age 14, and by age 16 I was a production fly tier. I then chose my college based on the fishing surrounding Gunnison, Colorado and began working as a full time guide soon after. Fast forward to 2011 and I now bring over a decade of guiding experience to the table, gained while working for some of the industry’s top outfitters in Colorado, Alaska, Argentina, Chile, New Zealand.  Besides spending the majority of my time on the water guiding and fishing you'll also find me working 2 days a week at the Avid Angler fly Shop, Seattle's newest Scott authorized dealer.

I’m incredibly impressed with the fishing options that we have within a short drive from Seattle.  Whether it’s fishing a fiberglass 2 weight for cutthroats in a tiny creek, high stick nymphing for wild rainbows in the Yakima, bombing casts for sea run cutthroats in Puget Sound, or swinging for steelhead, we’ve got virtually year-round fishing options.
For me, fly fishing has always been about having fun while in the outdoors. Whether you're an expert or a never-ever I consider a day to be successful when we can have a good time on the water. Whether it's catching some fish, learning a thing or two, or just enjoying the escape of being outside, these are all things that can make a guide day a success in my eyes.
Besides guiding for a living I’ve taught a great deal of fly fishing and fly tying classes.  I take great pleasure in seeing people with a genuine interest in the sport make progress and learn new things.  One thing that I think is so great about fly fishing is that I continue to learn nearly every time I get out.  The lifelong learning curve that fly fishing provides keeps me interested and coming back day after day.
I’m also very proud to be a part of the Scott Fly Rods family.  Having built my career guiding on the Gunnison river, within an hour’s drive from Scott Fly Rod headquarters, makes me feel that much more connected to the brand.  I like the fact that I know and respect the people that run Scott.  I think the friendliness of the company is somehow reflected in the brand itself.  Somehow Scott Rods have become a “by fishermen, for fishermen” company.  In this day and age it’s tough to find any company, fishing or otherwise, that is 100% owned and operated in the US, and it’s nice knowing that the whole product line is handmade in Montrose, Colorado.
Within the fly-fishing world I’ve always tried to support companies that I respect and make equipment that actually works well.  Even if I wasn’t affiliated with Scott I’d still be fishing only Scott Rods.  I’d wear Simms even if I wasn’t a guide ambassador.  I’d seek out and fish with Umpqua flies even if I wasn’t a Signature Tier.  There are plenty of great options for fly fishing equipment, I think it’s important to look beyond the advertising (and pricing) and see what the companies that you’re supporting stand for.
That said, if you find yourself in Washington, at just about any time of the year, I’d love to take you out and fish for a day or two.  We’ve got plenty of options to keep it interesting and fun!

After breaking-off my first lunker Bluegill on a Missouri farm pond when I was ten, I have found myself all over the country, with fly rod in hand, trying to fool big fish in beautiful water. When I was 13, I got my first dose of Western fly fishing and have done everything in my power to keep myself in the thick of it. I’m now lucky enough to call both Missoula and Livingston, Montana home. Between breaking-off even more fish, and actually landing a few memorable ones, I ended up with a degree in Aquatic Biology from the University of Montana (which comes in second to Montana State for producing the most fishing guides).

I’m currently the Associate Manager for Angler’s West Flyshop and a guide. In the time I have spent on the water, I have seen more remarkable things and met more amazing folks than I ever thought I would. I have been lucky enough to have Western Montana as my playground for most of my life. Whether it is the Bitterroot, Madison, Missouri, or Yellowstone, I have lasting memories on all of them.

Many of these memories have been made possible by Scott fly rods. I truly believe that there is no fishing scenario that Scott Fly Rod Company hasn’t thought of and designed a great rod for. Pack a G2 for the dries and an S4 for basically everything else. Scott continues to impress while making every single rod in the United States. I’m proud to be a member of that tradition.

Joe began fly fishing at the age of 12 with a fly rod inherited from his grandfather, and entered the fly fishing industry the weekend after he graduated from high school, as a shop rat in Ellensburg, WA. Planning on working the shop while he attended college, Joe quickly started putting a lot of time on the water (and enough in class) and after buying an old drift boat and an even older explorer was guiding the Yakima by the following spring. Steelhead fishing soon followed, and he began spending his falls swinging for eastern Washington's grabby summer runs and the Olympic Peninsula's giant winter fish. It took a masters degree for Joe to finally decide that he liked guiding and fishing much better than sitting in class or behind a desk, and he now lives with his wife and two dogs in Twin Bridges, MT, and returns to the steelhead rivers of his home state during the winter run.

Living in both Washington and Montana, Joe has had his hands on a lot of good fly rods, but chooses Scott for many reasons. The "feel" of Scott rods are what makes them the finest fly rods out there, but the attention to detail, excellent customer service, and fact that all Scott rods are made in America are all attributes that fall right behind the sweet casting strokes, and the reason he chooses Scott.

I am a local Colorado kid from Denver, I grew out always being outdoors playing sports. I played baseball into college and traveled around doing that for a great deal of my life. Then baseball brought me to the Western slope and brought a whole new level of passion for fly fishing. Before I knew it I was working in Western Anglers in Grand Junction and a full time guide. Now I am a guide at Elk Creek Lodge on the White River in Meeker, Colorado

Scott rods have always been there to help me with my clients as well as my own fishing endeavors. It doesn’t matter if I’m fishing a G2 or my big T2H for steelhead. The harder the fish to chase the better! There really is a Scott Difference and I feel it everyday on the water.

When I’m not guiding I’m usually teaching some form of fly fishing or tying flies, wither it’s a basic fly casting lesson or a spey casting lesson Scott Rods are always there. I’m always trying to create new patterns.

I’m also a industry pro for Scientific Anglers and Rising tools

Justin was born and raised in Bozeman, MT to a family with deep Montana roots and a passion for hunting and fishing. Growing up in Montana he had an abundance of trout-filled streams and ponds to explore with an old fly rod and an automatic winding reel given to him by his dad. Justin learned to fly fish at the age of 6, mostly on the small streams around Bozeman and Lincoln, MT. It didn't take him long to learn that if he wanted to catch trout he couldn't just cast into the river with a random fly drifting in any location. Most of his fishing was done in the summer months as a kid, where he'd walk up and down the stream looking for grasshoppers and began throwing them in the water, watching where the fish would emerge to take the hopper. After many failed attempts to successfully hook and keep a live grasshopper on a bare hook, his luck changed one day in a retail store when he and his brother made the discovery of a lifetime: a fake grasshopper fly. Thus his passion for fly fishing was sparked, and is a driving force in his work today.

Justin and his wife Sarah moved to Dillon, Montana in 2005, and after rowing for other outfitters in the area for four years, they started Tight Line Adventures in 2009, and opened Expedition Lodge in the spring of 2011. Having called nowhere but Montana home, Justin has a strong appreciation for how truly blessed he is to live and recreate in such a beautiful state. Keeping and preserving Montana's rich heritage is something he is very passionate about, and he brings that enthusiasm to his work as a fly fishing outfitter and guide.

Over the years Justin has had the opportunity to cast and fish numerous types of fly rods, and has found Scott to be the most well rounded and fluid rods on the market today. Whether it's chasing big Brown Trout in Montana, giant Rainbow's in Alaska, feisty Bonefish, Tarpon, and Permit in the salt, or chrome fresh Steelhead on the coast, Scott Fly Rods are up to the task.

Eric Adams grew up in the Mid-West chasing trout throughout Michigan and Wisconsin.  His obsession for all things fishing began a journey that has lead him to numerous states and countries pursuing dozens of species of fish on the fly. This passion led him to study and receive an undergraduate degree in Environmental Biology and a Masters degree in Ecology. This background allows him to convey a unique perspective while guiding ensuring a day on the water is an educational experience in terms of fishing, the surrounding ecological landscape, and most important techniques that put a bend in the rod.

This life long journey eventually led Eric to the Mecca of trout fishing in Livingston, Montana.  “In all my travels I’ve never found anywhere that has such fishing diversity – from big freestone rivers to technical spring creeks and picky tailwaters. It’s the perfect base of operation to chase trout.”

Eric now operates Montana Fly Fishing Guides, LLC. - one of the areas busiest outfitting operations.  He is also the the Director of Fishing Operations at Yellowstone Valley Lodge, and a director of the Fishing Outfitter Association of Montana (F.O.A.M.)

With over 25 years of fly fishing experience it’s no wonder why Eric chooses Scott Fly Rods for himself and his anglers. “Scott rods definitely have soul! Their attention to detail, performance and service match up perfectly with the wide variety of fishing opportunities in Southwest Montana.  Whether I’m chasing picky dry fly sipping trout on Armstrong’s Spring Creek or throwing heavy streamers for big Brown’s you’ll find me doing it with a Scott Rod in hand.”

George Spector was introduced to fishing by way of his maternal grandfather who took him fishing while George was growing up in Japan. The mountainous regions of Japan are home to many native species of char and salmon. Fly fishing for native char species, such as the "yamame," is very popular and enjoys a rich and storied history. George moved to the United States to attend college at the age of 18. During college, George fished extensively throughout New York State, namely the tributaries of Lake Ontario, which received annual runs of salmon and steelhead. Today, he makes his home in New York, where he is not far from the legendary rivers of the Catskill Mountains. He makes trips to his favorite river, the Delaware River, as often as he can. He is also makes frequent trips in the summer months to the Gaspe Bay region of eastern Canada to fish for Atlantic salmon. He is a member in good standing with some of the most prestigious camps in the region. He currently holds membership in Horse Island Camp on the Grand Cascapedia. George also fishes the Restigouche River in New Brunswick in May for a chance at a large bright Atlantic salmon because May gives the best opportunity to latch onto to some of the largest salmon of the year.

George was introduced to Scott Rods during the 1970s in Japan where he began to utilize them for their superior action and craftsmanship. Scott was a highly regarded manufacturer by all fly fishermen in Japan and has maintained that reputation today.

In 1997, George received the status of Master Fly Casting Instructor from the Federation of Fly Fishers. He is the author of the book, "The Delaware River."

I’m a partner/owner at Troutwater Fly Shop, Guide Service & Outfitters in central Washington. Troutwater has fly shops in Ellensburg and Cle Elum. With help from my two business partners Ted Truglio and Jim Gallagher, I get to spend the majority of my time on the water. I have been guiding for Trout and Steelhead since 2000 on several Washington Rivers. Our home river for trout is the Yakima but we also fish the Naches and Methow. For Steelhead I guide the Klickitat, Methow, Wenatchee and Grand Rhonde. Central and Eastern Washington have amazing fisheries with several different species of fish. We guide for Trout, Steelhead, Bass and everything in between. If you are ever in Washington give us a call, we’d love to take you fishing.

Our Outfitting company allows us the opportunity to take groups of anglers to various destinations around the world. My personal favorites are Mexico and Alaska. You can’t beat chasing Permit and Tarpon in Mexico or big rainbows in Alaska.

We proudly sell Scott Fly Rods in our shops and I use them on the river daily. The thing I like about Scott Fly Rods is no matter where we are fishing they have a rod for us. S4S for all of our saltwater needs, from Tarpon to Bonefish. S4, G2 and A4 for freshwater, from Trout to Bass. T2H and L2H spey rods for swinging flies for steelhead. Scott Fly Rods has us covered!

Pioneering different fly fishing techniques in Michigan's Upper Peninsula for over 12 years, Capt. Brad Petzke of Riversnorth Guide Service (www.riversnorth.net) offers remote outings in Michigan's most pristine wilderness.  Brad offers his clients a very diverse variety of outings to choose from.  Native Brook Trout, Brown Trout, Wild Steelhead, Atlantic salmon, Pacific salmon, as well as warmwater species-the U.P. has something to offer all skill levels of fly angler.  Riversnorth's reputation is known as the U.P.'s authority on fly fishing-guided adventures in "God's County".

Bordered by three Great Lakes, Michigan’s remote Upper Peninsula boasts some of the finest sportfishing in the country. Remote scenery, low angler pressure, and an extremely diverse fishery is what drove Brad Petzke here from the south shore of Lake Michigan to establish Rivers North Guide Service, the U.P.’s first full-time fly-fishing outfitter.

Whether guiding a remote trout excursion lifted from the pages of Voelker or Hemingway or innovating warm water opportunities on the regions most remote waters, Brad continues to develop the rich fishing heritage in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

His passion for fishing also shines through his conservation ethic. In addition to championing conservation efforts for wild native brook trout in his home waters, Brad has twice visited our nation’s capitol to lobby for national cold water conservation issues: In 2010 on behalf of the Michigan River Guides Association to advocate for stronger protections against the invasive Asian carp and in 2012 for Trout Unlimited’s “Sportsmen for Bristol Bay” summit. In recognition of his leadership on conservation issues, Brad was appointed by Michigan Governor Rick Snyder in 2011 to the state’s “Blue Ribbon Panel on State Parks and Outdoor Recreation,” where he serves as the U.P.’s sole representative.

Consistent with his mission to share his passion for and knowledge of fishing the U.P., Petzke also authors “Rivers North,” the monthly fly fishing column in Michigan OutofDoors Magazine.

Brad lives year round in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula along with his lovely wife and daughter.

Rachel and Jim met at a small fly shop in the Arizona desert.  In 2000 they reunited in Northern California and never looked back.  Today, with over 30 years working in fly fishing between them, they have directed the Mel Krieger School of Fly Fishing, developed and instructed summer programs for kids of all ages, appeared in episodes of “Chasing Silver” and “On the Rise”, guided several western states as well as Chile, Russia, and Mongolia, managed trout camps in Kamchatka, and traveled extensively around the world in search of the finest guides, lodges, and fisheries.

In 2009, the couple pooled their respective skills and launched Andras Outfitters in Talent, Oregon; a company committed to providing sound instruction, professional guides, and sage advice on destination travel.  Rachel embraces the dual role of instructor and travel sales specialist.  An FFF certified instructor, her teaching draws from a bachelor’s degree in education, a Krieger-centered approach to instruction, and worldwide experience in presentation.  Stamps on her passport aside, her attention to detail, intimate knowledge of fisheries, and deep-rooted relationships with guides and outfitters make her one of the most respected professionals in the business.  Jim, having guided the upper steelhead beats on the Rogue and Klamath Rivers since 2005, considers them home and each new day on the water his best.  Nevertheless, he continually explores Southern Oregon and Northern California in hopes of discovering “Curtis Creek.”

Together, the Andras’ feel extremely fortunate to share their connection to fly fishing with others.  Whether tuning a casting stroke, tailing a wild steelhead, or traveling to fish trevally, creating and enhancing those experiences always stokes the fire.  To that end…the relationship with Scott Fly Rods plays an important role in it all and has since that fateful day at the shop.  The rods are built in Colorado by anglers who, like Rachel and Jim, live on the water.

countless stripers over 30 pounds. During the fall, you will find him in
Montauk, New York, pursuing false albacore, bluefish and striped bass...
Montauk's fall run is legendary- the huge blitzes and feeding frenzies have

Jason is extremely passionate about not only the sport of fly fishing, but
also the "lifestyle" that comes along with it. Fly fishing is not just about
catching fish- it's about enjoying the beautiful places the fish we pursue

fun of it all- fishing, hanging out at the bar/campfire talking about
fishing... It's all good!

If you don't see Jason on the ocean, there is a good bet he will be trout

Mike has lived in South West Washington his whole life. Spending over 20yrs in the logging industry and then in 1989 he took up Fly fishing and has been hooked ever since. He was asked to compete in the Fly Fishing Masters in 2003, so he needed to find a good single handed 5 wt to use. Out of all the rods out there Mike chose the Scott S3. Mike has been hooked on Scott Fly Rods ever since.

Mike is always sharing information, and the knowledge that makes him so passionate about fly fishing.

The "feel" of Scott rods is what makes them; I think they are the finest fly rods out there.

In the little town of Onalaska Washington just a few short miles from the Cowlitz River I have a little shop called Lost Creek Fly Shop, & Mike Sturza’s Fly fishing Guide Service. We fly fish year around! Weather permitting.

What I really enjoy is the seeing the expression on the clients face when that first steelhead takes the fly, and cartwheels out of the water, or when they have hooked their 10th sea run cutthroat of the evening!

The best thing about Scott Fly Rods is no matter where we are fishing they have a rod for any of the applications I need. When I’m swinging for steelhead the T2H and L2H spey rods do the job very well, and when the highland lakes open, and the tiger muskies get active, and the sea run cutthroat come in the S4, G2,and the A4s do the job! Because of this, I’m proud to sell Scott Rods in my fly shop and use them on my guided trips.

My favorite rods are the T2H 12’6” 6wt, S4 9’6” 6wt, Muskie Special 9wt and the G2 9’ 6wt.

Life has taken me down many roads. From Ohio to California to the US Army to Northwest Montana. One thing that I have learned is, nothing beats a great day on the water! I love working hard and watching people catch fish.
I have been fly fishing since I was 11 years old and still learn new things every season. I am lucky enough to be one of the lead guides at Lakestream Fly Shop and Spotted Bear Ranch, based in Whitefish, Montana. I guide the entire Flathead River system, the Missouri, Clark Fork and Blackfoot Rivers. I also guide some lakes and other waters depending on the time of year.
Part of an enjoyable day on the water is having reliable equipment. From the A4 to the S4, Scott Fly Rods are the best. I love the deep slow action of the A4 and G2 and cant get enough of the S4. Scott Fly Rod never disappoints. The company is full of great people that are proud of their company and stand behind their products. I am honored to be on their team and have Scott Fly Rods in my boat!

I'm just nuts for the slow-motion bulge of a block-headed trout tipping back on a 2X hopper drifting down a narrow sliver of desert shade. I loose sleep over the startling yank or the curious thump of any steelhead on the swing, and I've shed many tears as cold goodness runs down the inside of my waders via the combination of releasing fish and careless beer placement. I think fishing hats, fishing to spawners, and low-holing other anglers is for yahoos. Besides a passion for fly fishing and many other kinds of outside multi-sport enthusiasm, I'm an accidental photographer, self taught filmmaker, and part time guide. As a kid I tagged along salmon & steelhead rivers from rain forests of the Oregon coast, as a teen I explored the volcanic mountain lakes and high desert tail waters of Central Oregon, and ever since call the variety of steep rivers, dark timber, and chaparral desert around Boise, Idaho home. I'm grateful that my wife is my best friend, my 230K Mi Toyota runs great, and for my dream job handling media and marketing for Silver Creek Outfitters of Ketchum Idaho.

My name is Bryan Huskey and I love the feel of a great fly rod loading from its tip down to my hand. I'm proud to be a part of the Scott Fly Rod team.

Adam has had a fly rod in his freckled hand from age 11, and has been many places, putting himself up against some great fish, and some weak ones. Adam's been guiding professionally since 1999. During that time he has amassed a great deal of knowledge and skill from his life on the water, as well as the friends he shared that time on the water with.

Adam’s life has revolved around fly fishing and fly-tying from an early age. He was winning competitive fly-tying competitions by age 12. His passion was further fueled while working at Eledredge Brothers fly shop in southern Maine - where he grew up on the water. The wind and tides carried him across the country to Northern California where he fished for wild west coast Steelhead and graduated from Humboldt State University.
Adam has been bouncing back and forth between the Florida Keys in the winter to western Montana where he spends his time on the remote Smith River, as well as many other Montana rivers during the summer. He has fished and lived in Belize and Baja Mexico, as well as traveled to Guatemala, British Colombia, the Virgin Islands, Bahamas, north-eastern, and Canada to fish.  His passion and intesity remains the same today. Today he finds his insperation from the saltwater flats of the florida Keys were he paints, tie's, guides, and fishes his butt off.

Michael grew up in South Florida before development to the eastern border of Everglades National Park was on anyone’s mind. He’d hop neighbors’ fences to catch bass from their ponds, or simply work the canal by his middle school bus stop. He bought his first fly rod using a combination of lawn mowing fees and spare change he picked up repotting trees at the local nursery, when he was just ten years old.

Gracie’s professional career has spanned bankruptcy/reorganization, mergers & acquisitions, and running venture capital backed technology startups, on three separate continents. While he’s taken time off to scuba dive, ski/snowboard, and play some very bad rounds of golf, his first love has always been fishing.

Michael is the developer of websites such as MidCurrent, Anglers Tonic, and the American Fly Fishing Trade Association, provides technology support to Deneki Outdoors, blogs semi-prolifically on his own site, michaelgracie.com, and has written for Angling Trade. He also plies his extensive business experience as a finance, technology and business development advisor to numerous enterprises within the fly fishing world.

For Michael, deciding to fish Scott Fly Rods was a choice that came down to esthetics. After spending a year fishing the G2 905/4 he picked up soon after moving to Colorado, he began to wonder why the rod he pulled out of the closet most often was also the one that marketing folks had spent the least amount of time choosing colors for. After fishing G2s down to 2-weight, S4s’s up to 12-weight, and most everything in between, he speculation was confirmed – a rod manufacture could indeed produce the best performing, most fun-to-fish rod, by perfecting their product for angling instead of fashion shows.

Michael can be found beating up carp on Denver’s South Platte River, chasing trout all over the western US, and occasionally (ok, maybe more often that he should) finagling his way into [someone else’s] saltwater adventures.

That is, when he’s not burning candles from both ends.

Slim brought that technical knowledge and experience to Redding in early 2004 when he moved with his wife back to Northern California.  Slim is now an independent guide and outfitter and gives 110% to make sure his clients have the best possible experience on the water and go home with memories to last a lifetime.  Slim has been fishing Scott Rods since 1994 because its the best, “ I've never cared how a rod casts in the parking lot or on a casting pond with a small piece of yarn, I care how a rod performs in the real world, on the water with terminal tackle actually fishing to catch fish.

I’ve been doing that for a living over 200 days a year since 1993.  Nothing has better feel, fights fish better or lands more fish than Scott Rods.  When your going out there looking for the fish of a lifetime, you can’t afford to compromise on your rod.  It’s the most important piece of equipment you will have, get the best, get a Scott Rod “.  Slim is proud to be a member of Scott Rods ProStaff, he can be reached at

Jeff has over well over 15 years of guiding under his belt, but has been fishing ever since he was a toddler growing up in Connecticut, spending his summers fishing with his grandfather. After working in the corporate world for 5 years, Jeff decided to make a career out of his love for fishing and began guiding full time in the tail waters of Tennessee, prior to moving to Pennsylvania to manage the Delaware River Club. After 8 years at the DRC, the mountains of Tennessee beckoned once again in 2008, and Jeff has been fishing there until his return to the Delaware.

Along with the Delaware River, Jeff has guided other waters in New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and both North & South Carolina. One thing is certain – good luck finding Jeff anywhere without a river nearby!

Don’t let his laid back and easy going personality fool you though - he knows the Delaware, its finicky fish and bugs like no other. Clients truly enjoy their time on the water with him, as he will put them on fish and teach them something new on every trip.

Keeping the family tradition alive, Jeff and his 8 year old niece fish as frequently as possible, but his true passion is his chase for the salt and his free time is spent seeking out stripers and blue fin tuna on the fly. When he’s not on the water, Jeff is designing new styles of flies and hunting grouse.

He believes music peaked on the Bob Dylan Rolling Thunder Revue Tour in 1975, and died with Warren Zevon on September 7, 2003.

Joe began his journey as a fisherman back in the in the mid seventies as a 3rd generation musky angler. While fishing the Kawartha chain of lakes he caught his first musky at age 12 with his father.
Some years later Joe started his guiding career in Jackson Hole Wyoming with legendary outfitter Joe Bressler.   After guiding and fishing throughout the West, Joe returned to his home state where he began fishing and guiding the Delaware river, learning the technical aspects of the river and honing his dry fly skills, teaching these skills to others. While in the early years working at the Delaware river, he met Jedi master Calle “Carl” Holmqist, master of the two handed rod. A few months later he found himself flying to Sweden, casting for Atlantic salmon underhand style. Within a year he submerged himself in the world of swinging flies for Steelhead with a double-handed rod. The allure of fishing in British Columbia overwhelmed him and one month out of a year for the next ten years Joe fished the waters of the Skeena watershed, swinging flies for Canadian chrome.

His passion for the sport of fly fishing gave him the opportunity and blessing of guiding and instructing in the states of Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, Alaska, Pennsylvania and New York.
He continues guiding the waters of the upper Delaware, where the river's  gold n silver gems, complex hatches and technical fly presentation demand the best skills an angler can offer keep the fire burning.
Joe proudly hangs his hat at the West Branch Angler on the banks of the West Branch of the Delaware river going into his 15th season of guiding this world class fishery.

I was introduced to fly fishing by my older brother. We were fortunate to be able to spend summers at my grandparents’ ranch on Panther Creek, a small tributary to the Salmon River in central Idaho. On that pristine stream I got spoiled--able to throw anything with deer hair and watch fish after fish come up to eat. Spoiled, yes, but it kept a young man’s interest and developed a love for fly fishing. While I was attending college, my family decided they wanted a change of pace and bought a small business in North Fork, Idaho right on the Salmon River—and only 25 miles from Panther Creek. I spent my summers learning how to run the river as a rafting guide during the day and working in the business in the evenings. Not able to tear myself away, I took a semester off school to learn the art of spey casting for steelhead. I was hooked. Unable to think of a more enjoyable career, I started spending more time fishing, learned to guide for steelhead in the fall and spring, and started seeking trout guiding experience for the summer season. A good friend, Dan Hurzeler, introduced me to the South Fork of the Snake River in eastern Idaho. I was able to secure a position with a premier lodge on the Snake—South Fork Outfitters, a Natural Retreats property. I plan on spending many summers guiding people on that unique tail water and catching the beautiful healthy fish the South Fork houses.

Chris grew up on the banks of the Missouri River in Great Falls, MT. Spending time camping and fishing was a way of life growing up in Montana, but it wasn’t until his teens, that Chris began feeding the addiction that has since consumed him. The last two years of high school, after a move to NM, is when things began to get serious. The San Juan being a short drive away made this new found love all too accessible, and fly fishing became an everyday activity. This continued throughout his time at undergraduate and graduate school at The University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.
A move to Phoenix is where things became a little bit bleak from a fishing perspective. Boxed in a cubicle for most of his waking hours, Chris was relegated to fishing irrigation canals and city parks for bass and carp; watching for joggers on his back cast. Five years later he came to his senses. He and his wife, Michelle, packed their things and headed back to the heart of trout country in southwest Montana.
Chris and a fishing buddy, who is also his brother-in-law, decided to push their passion for the sport to the next level. They opened The StoneFly Fly Shop in Butte, MT in the spring of 2006. Whether he is guiding clients on a beautiful Montana river or helping a customer in the shop, one thing is apparent; Chris has a passion for fishing and for sharing that passion with others. While running a fly shop and guiding consume endless hours, Chris still manages to find the time to spend with his wife and their three year old twins, Caleb and Sienna. We think they’ll have a couple of life-long Scott fans here!
There one constant in his fly fishing journey has been Scott Fly Rods. There is just something about these rods that is hard to put into words. You can talk all day about the technical specs and tangible benefits that make Scott rods the best in the business, but it’s hard to quantify that feeling you get when casting a Scott fly rod to rising fish on your favorite piece of water. That is the Scott difference.

In a whirlwind of fish and water, the world of fly fishing hooked me when I was just twelve years old. Since then, I've taken every chance to travel the world, fly rod in-hand. Most of my fly fishing life has been spent chasing wild trout all over the western United States, to famous trout waters across California, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, and New Mexico. There is something truly magical in throwing a dry fly to a rising rainbow and stripping streamers for big browns and jaw-dropping runs of steelhead.
But this crazy fish passion of mine stretches beyond the trout of the west. I've also been caught casting to bright chrome steelhead in Oregon, blitzing Dorado in Mexico, tailing Bonefish around the Yucatan and Redfish in Texas, and chasing the spunky Bonita in San Diego Bay.
UC Davis brought me to Northern California in 2001. I thought I had made a responsible decision, giving up the prestigious fly fishing of the Universities of Montana and Colorado for a serious college education at UCD. Ha! Little did I know that the location of UC Davis in Northern California is near some of the best wild trout fishing in Northern California.
During my "B.S." years, it seemed I spent just as much time studying trout behavior on the rivers as I did in the classroom. And despite the unrelenting call of the fish, I managed to earn a degree in Business & Management and land a beautiful, passionate, fly-fishing wife. I guess you could say Northern California's been good to me. Then, in 2006, in pursuit of more fish and an ever higher education, we came to Chico, California. I worked part-time to earn a Masters degree in Business Administration while continuing to guide. We couldn't help falling in love with the town, so in 2009, we made it our home by buying one!
Guiding isn't just a job. When you love fishing as much as I do, it's an art and a passion and a life all wrapped up. There's nothing better than seeing a client's face light up as his or her line tightens. Guiding has been good to me. So good that I wanted to find a way to share this gift with others by giving it away. So in 2008, my wife and I started Cast Hope, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization which aims to positively impact the Northern California community through the donation of guided fly fishing trips on Putah Creek, Sacramento, Feather, Yuba, and Trinity Rivers. Through each guided fly fishing trip it is our mission to foster and deepen relationships; refresh hearts, minds, and souls; create long-lasting, joyful memories; and provide opportunities for learning, loving, and reaching out. Check out the website and videos online at www.casthope.org, and let us know how you'd like to get involved with blessing the community with fly fishing!
Over the years my clients and I have caught some great fish, but even better than that, we've made some great memories. I want to thank you all for making my guiding career so enjoyable and filling my storybook with countless fish tales. I'm looking forward to seeing you back on the water soon!

He began hitch hiking the 5 miles from his house to the Lower Yuba River with a fly rod in hand in Junior High school. He has chased trout and steelhead in California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and Saskatchewan, British Columbia, and Alberta provinces in Canada. Far from being a trout snob, Hogan has spent considerable time fishing for largemouth, smallmouth, and striped bass and readily admits to enjoying catching carp and catfish on a fly! Hogan has become one of the leading innovators in warm water fly fishing in Northern California. Just as passionate about fly tying, Hogan has developed a unique approach to tying bass, carp, steelhead, and trout flies with the sierra foothills and the CA central valley as his testing ground. Hogan blends many different styles with his own unique approach to create innovative flies for catching bass, carp, steelhead, and trout. Hogan is a contract tier for Idylwilde Fly Co. and has over 30 patterns out through them. Hogan began guiding the North Fork and Lower Yuba Rivers when he graduated from high school and eventually relocated to Chico to attend Chico State. Hogan is a 2005 graduate of Chico State with a degree in Social Science and a minor in Psychology. After that he graduated from National University in 2006 with a single subject teaching credential and a Masters in Education. Hogan is also the Marketing Director of the non-profit Cast Hope, which is geared at growing the sport of fly fishing by taking out youth on free guided trips, providing free clinics, and free equipment to remove the barriers that keep kids from getting outdoors and fly fishing. With two young boys and a full guide schedule on the Lower Yuba River, Lower Sacramento River, and Feather River along with various bass and carp water and small streams and rivers outside of Chico Hogan stays plenty busy. Hogan is also a published author with articles appearing in both Northwest Fly Fishing and Southwest Fly Fishing Magazine along with Saltwater Fly Fishing Magazine and California Fly Fisher. I grew up with saltwater in my blood and a crusty salt film on my skin and
hair.

Born and raised on the beaches of Southern California, my earliest memories are of me chasing schools of bonito with a nine foot rod down the
jetties that run along the sides of so many beaches there. While my friends all spent their days surfing as kids, I spent my days out at sea watching my backing disappear on yellowtail, mako sharks, and the pelagic fish that roam the Pacific.

I went to college at the University of Santa Barbara so I could spend my time in between classes on the water. I graduated in 1993 with a Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy.

I have since spent the years travelling the globe chasing fish with a fly in a never ending pursuit of new and exciting species. Four years ago I moved to New Orleans to become a full time guide and fish the most
prolific saltwater fishery in the United States. It is my passion and obsession and I won't rest until I help you fulfill your dreams on the
water.

Mike was born and raised in beautiful Butte America and is proud to be a native “Butte Rat”.  Things were no different for him than any other Montanan growing up with much of his time spent fishing, camping, hiking, shooting, and enjoying big sky country.  Mike graduated a bulldog from Butte High School prepped and ready for college.  It was shortly after he moved to Salt Lake City to attend the University of Utah that fly fishing started to consume his life.  A college buddy got Mike into fly fishing and there was no turning back.  Most days and nights were spent learning and studying this fine art on many Utah fisheries including the Provo River and Weber River, these being his top picks.  Mike ended up getting his BS in Parks, Recreation, & Tourism with an emphasis of Commercial Recreation.  With his heart still back home, it was no surprise Mike moved back to Butte, Montana immediately.
Mike took his love for fly fishing to the next level by opening The StoneFly Fly Shop in the spring of 2006 with his fishing buddy, who is also his brother-in-law.  The fly shop is located in Butte in a log cabin built by Mike’s father, John.  John, now past, had a gun shop in the log cabin.  He chopped down all the trees for the cabin, hand shaved each one, and hoisted them all into place alone.  Mike’s hand print can still be found outside the door with an ’87 by it, the year John finished.
Many of Mike’s days are still consumed with the passion of fly fishing.  He is always found with his number one fan, his overly energetic yellow lab Rio, usually on their favorite piece of Montana treasure, the Big Hole River.  Mike has also accomplished being a signature tyer, and enjoys cranking out bugs for customers coast to coast, or for that epic dry fly day out on the river.  His product knowledge and customer service when he is running The StoneFly is unprecedented, and Mike can be found many days laughing it up and talking fishing within the walls of the log cabin.
Mike has found one fishing tool throughout his adventures that is his number one go to, Scott Fly Rods.  It means a lot that these rods are built in the USA and handcrafted by people that are just as passionate about fly fishing as he is.  Mike is still quoting some of his favorite stuff from past Scott catalogs.  His favorite being something like “Scott fly rods are not made with pixie dust and fairy tales, they are handcrafted in the United States with the best materials available, by the best fly rod builders in the industry that are just as passionate about fly fishing as you are.”  Scott fly rods do have soul, and Mike is part of the family.  That’s the Scott difference.

Steve Taggart has been guiding the Upper Delaware River System in the Catskills since 2000.He spends the season in his riverside camper completely immersing himself in the rhythms of the river. Unlike most Delaware River Guides who focus on the crowded West Branch, Steve fishes the bigger and less fished waters of the East Branch and Lower Main Stem.  When he's not guiding, Steve is busy working as a Professional Firefighter and EMT.
Besides Trout, Steve has developed a passion for swinging flies and pitching dries for Atlantic Salmon and Steelhead with two handed rods. He has fished for them throughout BC, the Gaspe, and New Brunswick in Canada.  He also loves fishing for bonefish in the Bahamas and Florida Keys and chasing Albies in Long Island with his friends. I grew up on a dude ranch in Wyoming with a trout stream running through it called Sunlight Creek. Sunlight Creek became my daycare; I spent a lot of my youth casting to brookies and native cutthroats on that stream. I started selling flies and “guiding” guests at the ranch when I was in grade school. I sold wooly worms 4 for a dollar.  “Guiding” consisted of getting the guests to the river, and racing them to the good holes after that.

I moved to Bozeman in 1987 to attend Montana State University.  After six years of fishing and skiing, I finally got a B.S. in Fish and Wildlife Biology. I used this for 2 seasons conducting snorkel counts of Chinook salmon for the Forest Service in Idaho before moving back to Bozeman. I started guiding in Bozeman in 1995 and have been an outfitter since 1999. I guide on a wide variety of water from rafting raging freestones to stalking flat water spring creeks. Most of my clients come to Montana to dry fly fish to selective trout. About half of them come from Japan to test their skills. Each fishing situation presents different challenges for client, guide and equipment.

Scott Fly Rods have been my choice for the past 18 years.  Whether it’s pounding the bank with streamers on the Yellowstone, or slack casting a tiny midge with 7X tippet on the spring creeks; Scott has the right tools for me and my clients.

Jason is, quite literally, a professional usurer, but spends most of his time, free and otherwise, either behind the counter at Fly Fishing Specialties talking about fly fishing, or actually fly fishing.

Jason is from Finnish extraction, having been extracted from Finland before he was actually conceived, and is still known there as “Kuivaa tai kuole”, which loosely translated from the Lappi reindeer herder dialect means, “Use More Floatant”.

Jason prefers trout fishing above all else stating pretentiously, “It’s really the only kind of fly fishing that offers the variety of technique required to challenge both my acute mind, and my excellence at physical endeavors.”  Jason cites his humbleness as his most endearing trait.

Above all he’s a passionate angler who sincerely loves sharing his passion with others.  He is excited to be a part of the Scott team and can be found at most times with his trusty G2 by his side.

I grew up fishing the Willamette valley area of Oregon and have never left except for a brief summer spent in Yellowstone. The rivers I mainly fish are the Mckenzie, MF Willamette, and the Umpqua. I am a year round fishing guide and my central location of Eugene offers me ample opportunity to fish the best rivers at the most optimal times. I am also an employee of The Caddis Fly Angling Shop where I have learned from the areas best, my brother Ty is a couple years older than myself and I have learned more from him than any other. Together we operate hollowaybrosfishing which specializes in steelheading and trout fishing the Valleys' best streams.
