Louis Gaudet, an avid angler, epitomizes passion for fly fishing. Louis’ kinship with fishing began early, he was only six years old when his father introduced him to the concept of the fly. As years passed, and his love for angling cemented itself in his life, Louis effortlessly pursued fly fishing. His fly fishing pastime consequently led him to be frequenting the trout infested waters of the Farmington River in Connecticut.
As a prelude to teaching, Louis delivered fly casting lessons as an instructor at L.L. Bean. He then commenced his guiding career, taking clients on trips along the Farmington River and also on the West and East branches of the Delaware River in New York. Louis’ preferred rod for hooking trout in the Farmington and Delaware, is the Scott G2 9ft 4wt.
After growing up in Connecticut, and guiding other anglers amongst Northern waters for six years, Louis ventured south to Florida. Louis currently operates a casting school at Harry Goode’s Outdoor Shop, located in Melbourne, Florida. Louis’ casting school is authentic and comprehensive, as he teaches proper casting mechanics and enables his pupils to achieve their highest casting potential.
The artistic expression found amongst Louis as an angler, is suitably complimented by his creative and versatile fly tying skills. Louis is a dedicated fly tier and creates flies applicable to both fresh and saltwater fishing. When Louis is not teaching or tying flies, he can be found a midst the salt water looking to conquer the insatiable quest for Tarpon and Redfish using his Scott s4s 9ft 10wt or Radian 9ft 8wt.
And with each Tarpon and Redfish he hooks on a fly, Louis appreciates and acknowledges nature, which empowers and permits his love of fishing. As a member of Trout Unlimited, a non-profit organization that focuses on trout and river restoration/conservation, Louis advocates for the environment so its resources can be protected. Louis also unites locally with fellow anglers, as a member of the Backcountry Fly Fishing Association.
