Rachel and Jim met at a small fly shop in the Arizona desert.  In 2000 they reunited in Northern California and never looked back.  Today, with over 30 years working in fly fishing between them, they have directed the Mel Krieger School of Fly Fishing, developed and instructed summer programs for kids of all ages, appeared in episodes of “Chasing Silver” and “On the Rise”, guided several western states as well as Chile, Russia, and Mongolia, managed trout camps in Kamchatka, and traveled extensively around the world in search of the finest guides, lodges, and fisheries.

In 2009, the couple pooled their respective skills and launched Andras Outfitters in Talent, Oregon; a company committed to providing sound instruction, professional guides, and sage advice on destination travel.  Rachel embraces the dual role of instructor and travel sales specialist.  An FFF certified instructor, her teaching draws from a bachelor’s degree in education, a Krieger-centered approach to instruction, and worldwide experience in presentation.  Stamps on her passport aside, her attention to detail, intimate knowledge of fisheries, and deep-rooted relationships with guides and outfitters make her one of the most respected professionals in the business.  Jim, having guided the upper steelhead beats on the Rogue and Klamath Rivers since 2005, considers them home and each new day on the water his best.  Nevertheless, he continually explores Southern Oregon and Northern California in hopes of discovering “Curtis Creek.”

Together, the Andras’ feel extremely fortunate to share their connection to fly fishing with others.  Whether tuning a casting stroke, tailing a wild steelhead, or traveling to fish trevally, creating and enhancing those experiences always stokes the fire.  To that end…the relationship with Scott Fly Rods plays an important role in it all and has since that fateful day at the shop.  The rods are built in Colorado by anglers who, like Rachel and Jim, live on the water.
